Summary

Fieldwork in 1992 during the construction of the Yelveton to East Carleton pipeline recovered a Roman pottery sherd, five post medieval pottery sherds, a number of medieval brick or tile and glass fragments and six flint flakes.

May-August 1992. Fieldwalking and Metal-Detecting Survey and Watching Brief.
Fieldwork carried out along route of Yelverton to East Carleton Gas Pipeline (Survey Blocks 176-181).
Finds recovered during initial survey include:
6 prehistoric flint flakes.
1 Roman pottery sherd.
6 medieval brick/tile fragments and glass.
5 post-medieval pottery sherds and 39 brick/tile fragments.
A single features was observed during the subsequent Watching Brief undertaken during topsoil stripping and excavation of pipe trench. This undated feature was observed in both sides of the pipe trench but was of an uncertain nature.

There are also minor discrepancies between the information given in (S1) and that which was initially supplied following the completion of the fieldwork.
The finds have been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1995.75).
