Summary

This was the site of a small pottery works during the medieval period. A small settlement developed here from the post medieval period, and a house surrounded by a ditch is mentioned in a document of 1589. A moat-like feature is visible on the tithe map of 1839. Fieldwalking and metal detecting recovered pottery dating from the Roman to the post medieval periods, a medieval brooch and buckle, and other medieval and post medieval metal finds.

This site is recorded as MED103 and MED104 in (S3). MED103 represents the remains of a short lived medieval pottery production site, and consists mainly of 12th and 13th century sherds. MED104 is a concentration of post medieval finds, and is recorded is documents from the 16th century onwards. In 1589 a house was standing on the site, surrounded by a ditch and a hedge.
