Summary

Metal detecting here in 1992 recovered an undated copper alloy hooked tag or fitting, either from a belt or vessel handle mount. The mount has animal heads and eyes at each corner of the face and is decorated with white metal.

14 or 15 September 1992. Metal detecting.
Decorated bronze object. ?A vessel estucheon. Reidentified as bronze hooked tag or fitting, either belt or vessel handle escutcheon, tinning or silvering on face, zones of hatching within a meandering band forming a sort of W, with ?animal heads and eyes at each corner. Plate is circular but top part missing. Hook rather squashed.
