Map

Site of icehouse?
Octagonal above ground building marked on (S1).
In wooded area now known as Icewell Clump.
This would seem to fit earlier report that there were three icehouses in the park, one of which was octagonal.
Access to wood not allowed by gamekeeper who says the building has been demolished and only a depression remains.
Ice would have come either from the pond 100 metres or so to east, or from the main lake, though reason for three icehouses in one park is not known.
E. Rose (NLA) 3 February 1993.
