Full Description
22 July 1991. NLA aerial photography.
Parchmarks dividing site into quarters in form of formal garden.
M. Flitcroft (NLA) February 1993.
However this is unlikely to be the case as this is ancient common land. Marks appear to be ditches perhaps surviving as earthworks, and appear similar to feature to south still marked as 'drain' on 1:10,000 Ordnance Survey.
But why should a common be divided into little rectangles? Feature included in NHER because of this oddity.
E. Rose (NLA) 16 February 1993.
