Summary

Fieldwalking in this area during 1992-93 recovered a huge diversity of pottery sherds dating to a vartiety of periods. The majority of these fragments were identified as Saxon Ipswich and Thetford Ware or as types dating to the medieval era. A 1681 survey here recorded two houses in the survey area and these might explain the sheer quantity of finds. Metal detecting at this location also uncovered a medieval cauldron foot and pot mend, further enhancing evidence for medieval occupation.
