Summary

Extensive metal detecting undertaken at this location from 1992 to 2006 has recovered a wealth of metal objects dating to a variety of periods. The most significant of these were a Middle Saxon faceted-headed pin, a medieval bronze enamelled disc brooch with central seven-sided motif with turquoise enamelling, part of a Saxon cast bronze bell and a post medieval lead cloth seal.

1994. Metal detector find.
10th century gilded bronze enamelled disc brooch with projecting lobes, four big ones and two between each much smaller, all with blue pellets. In centre a seven-sided motif with turquoise enamel (in curved sides), and around this, seven semi-circular cloisons containing dark blue enamel. Reverse: two folded strips (possible secondary?).

Medieval strap end with fabric inside, tiny nicks in open end. Lobed terminals. Single rivet at each end.

1997. Metal detector find.
Cast bronze bell or harness pendant with broken suspension loop. Three large holes, probably decorative with three small holes for additional pendants. Not thought to have had a clapper. 9th/11th century.

Middle Saxon body sherd of pimply Ipswich ware. The 'pimples' are large grains of quartz sand. Early 8th or 9th century.
