Summary

This timber-framed building dates to the mid or late 16th century, and has a rendered timber-frame with a tiled roof. A crosswing was added around 1600, when the older wing was converted to a kitchen with a huge fireplace. The older wing was downgraded to a farm building in the 19th century.

Timber framed T-shaped building. Main wing is mid 16th century on cross passage plan with solar stair, but with original upper floor to hall and glazed windows. Crosswing added around 1600 when older wing converted to kitchen with huge fireplace and to lodgings with new windows. Older wing downgraded to farm building in 19th century.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Walnut Tree Farmhouse, Wash Road.
Late 16th century house. Rendered timber-frame. Tiled roof with gabled ends. Southeast end faced in red brick with stepped gable with good chimney stack at apex with three moulded brick octagonal shafts. Two tall storeys. Three windows. Modern metal-frame casements."
