Summary

During a watching brief and fieldwalking and metal detecting before the digging of a pipeline recovered prehistoric flint flakes and a scraper, medieval and post medieval pottery and three post medieval clay pipe stems. No archaeological features were identified.

February-November 1993. Watching Brief.
Brundall to Whitlingham Rising Main (Field 4600).
Initial fieldwalking and metal-detecting where possible, followed by observation of stripped easement and, where deemed necessary, monitoring of the excavation of the pipe trench itself.
Finds recovered during fieldwalking and metal-detecting included:
Prehistoric flint flakes and scraper.
Post-medieval pottery, clay tobacco pipe and building material.
After removal of topsoil no features were observed.
