Summary

In 1993 a watching brief on a pipeline for Anglian Water fieldwalked and detected a 10m strip along the north edge of the field. No archaeological features were identified on the stripped surface, although flints and Late Saxon and post-medieval sherds were collected from the topsoil.

February-November 1993. Watching Brief.
Brundall to Whitlingham Rising Main (Field 8529).
Initial fieldwalking and metal-detecting where possible, followed by observation of stripped easement and, where deemed necessary, monitoring of the excavation of the pipe trench itself.
Finds from topsoil included:
Prehistoric worked flints.
Late Saxon pottery sherd.
?Medieval glazed floor tile.
Post-medieval pottery sherds and other finds.
No archaeological features were identified on the stripped surface.
