Map

Barn, timber framed.
Much replaced in clay lump, brick etc but what remains of basic structure indicates an early 17th century date at
latest.
Evidence of close set studs with bracing; half-scarf joint in wallplate.
Stopped and chamfered tiebeams joined to flared wallposts and rest on double arched bracing, a feature not found elsewhere in farm survey areas.
Evidence that original roof now replaced had principal rafters above tiebeams and kingposts with struts.
Another barn probably later was destroyed in a gale.
Information from UEA farm survey (S1), notes (S2), architectural plans (S3) and photographs (S4) in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 7 September 1993.

Building examined in advance of planning application for conversion.
Nothing to add to UEA report, except that original roof may have been queenpost instead of kingpost.
E. Rose (NLA), 1 August 2001.
