Summary

Metal detecting has recovered Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval objects. They include a Late Bronze Age copper alloy socketed knife, a Roman coin, a possible Early Saxon shield mount, a possible Early Saxon pendant or girdle hanger, Middle and Late Saxon strap ends and part of a 16th century silver pin.

October/November 1995. Metal detecting. [1].
Early Saxon shield mount (S2). Bronze, Two shanks on reverse. Style II chip-carved ornament and in form of bird. Traces of gilding on reverse. Comparable to Frankish bird brooches.

?Early Saxon very strange ?pendant ?girdle hanger. Tapering end broken with rounded moulding, rest is a flat strip with pairs of projecting ?broken loops at other end.
Early post medieval book clasp, two rows of nine ring-and-dots.
