Summary

Late Saxon and medieval pottery as well as a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount and a post-medieval spoon were recovered during gardening in 1993.

1993. Stray find.
Found when gardening in walled vegetable garden.
Thetford type ware including Grimston/Thetford type bowl rim and medieval glazed jug rim sherd.
Late Saxon box mount, engraved decoration projecting 'lobes' angled flange and one rivet hole. One rivet hole at apex. This find was identified as a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount by D. Williams in 1997, see Monograph (S1).
Post-medieval decorated iron spoon handle or handle of more pointed implement like fork for shell fish etc.
