Full Description
Laurel Farm, Skinners Lane. Possible moated site.
June 1981. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description Excerpt:
"Laurel Farmhouse, Skinner's Lane. Starston.
17th-century timber-frame house, faced in brick. Steep pantile roof with gabled ends. Brick chimney stack off centre. Two storeys. Three widely spaced windows. 18th- or 19th-century casements. Two modern doors one in front of stack. Later external brick stack on north end."

1994. Building Survey.
Timber framed three cell two storey farmhouse, with parlour end of unusually high quality. Evidence suggests a medieval hall house, with upper floor, stack and parlour of late 16th century. Main roof of around 1700. Brick skin of around 1800.

The sections of earthwork medieval moat (see above) are visible on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2021 (S6). As the survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the features still survive as earthworks.
