Summary

Undated prehisoric flint finds, Roman coins, pottery and other metalwork, an Early Saxon sleeve clasp, medieval coins, tokens and harness fittings, and post medieval coins and other metalwork, all found by metal detecting, and associated with NHER 30275.

1993. Metal-detecting.
Splayed foot from a wing and fantail type brooch with a curvilinear design consisting of a reverse S with pointed ovals at either end in relief. Catch-plate on reverse. Described from a Polaroid photograph found in the files.

February 1994. Area of Roman sherds, clearly a continuation of site NHER 30275 to the south.
Roman grey, mostly sandy and some coarse gritty: 1 storage jar rim, 6 jar rims, 3 bases and 8 body sherds.
Oxfordshire red slip: 1 bead and flange bowl rim; 1 ?mortarium base.
1 body sherd medieval glazed.
1 body sherd micaceous Late medieval/Trans or Glazed Red Earthenware.

1997. Metal detecting finds.
4 Roman coins.
Medieval silver coin.
2 post medieval silver coins.
English medieval jetton.
4 Roman copper alloy brooches. Polaroid NCM see (S1).
Roman cast copper alloy fragment.
2 Roman handles.
Early Saxon wrist clasp. Polaroid NCM see (S1).
Medieval gilded mount, Papal Bulla, strap end hook.
Post medieval lead alloy and iron pin.
Prehistoric ?Retouched/utilised flake.
Long narrow flake of translucent pale brown flint with a trace of cortex at the distal end. Slight bluish/white patination. Edges extensively damaged (post patination), probably accidental, but some possible fine retouch at the distal tip and on the lateral edges. Undatable prehistoric.
