Summary

This historic parkland was once the landscaped park of the former rectory. It dates to sometime before 1797. The land here features general contours, walks and earthworks as well as a ruined folly containing blocks of medieval limestone. A commemorative monument in the shape of a Greek altar with an inscription survives in the northwest corner.

February 2026. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
An area of possible medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow is visible on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2022 (S1). The earthworks are centred at TF 8975 0209 and likely relate to medieval to post medieval agricultural activity pre-dating the creation of the parkland (see above). The possibility that the ridges may be a product of modern activity, also cannot be ruled out.
