Summary

A Roman key, a Late Saxon key and disc brooch, medieval brooches and buckles, a medieval harness pendant in the shape of a scallop shell, and two medieval seal matrices, one belonging to 'Hugh son of Roger', and the other to 'Deodatus of Lexden', probably referring to Lexden in Essex. Medieval pottery and roof tile, and medieval and post medieval coins and other metalwork have also been found on the site by fieldwalking and metal detecting.

Scatter of medieval pottery found in bare soil on edge of field and in area of poor sugarbeet germination.
17 unglazed medieval sherds, including 1 early medieval bowl rim and 1 Grimston bowl rim fragment.
3 Glazed Grimston ware sherds.
1 probable Medieval roof tile fragment.

Tonsured bust facing dexter on cross hatched ground. S'.DEIADATVS:DE:LEXEDENE Seal of Deodatus of Lexden (S1).

The seal of Deodatus of Lexden, may refer to Lexden, near Colchester, Essex as 'Lexedene' is one of the medieval spellings. Enquiries about Deodatus have drawn a blank.
