Map

23 July 1992. NLA air photography.
Cropmarks of square enclosure, entrance to east. Possibly another adjoining (see photo D).
D. Edwards (NLA), 1994.

August 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Sections of a possible rectilinear or square enclosure (see above) of an unknown date are seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S2). A break in the ditch on the features eastern side (centred at approximately TF 8949 09711) may have related to a possible entrance way. Although the date of the feature is unknown, an Iron Age to Roman date is possible. The previously suggested (see above) second adjoining enclosure likely relates to the cropmarks of post medieval field boundaries recorded on the Tithe map (S3). Therefore, these features have not been mapped a part of this project.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 11 August 2023.
