NHER 31044 (Find Spot record) - Multi-period finds

September-October 1994. Metal detecting. Generally located finds. [1].
1) Two Roman, one medieval, one post medieval coins. See list in file.
2) Roman rosette brooch. All the spring gear, the pin and most of the leg with catchplate are missing. Vertical ribs (? Plain) on each side of the wing case, bow with worn ?knurled rib in centre, oval plate with three raised oval ribs and closely spaced raised pellets decorating the outer 'border'. Leg decorated with worn longitudinal mouldings. On the back of the leg is the stump of the missing catchplate. ?Filed down. Similar to Hattatt 277. Early 1st century AD.
3) Bronze loop from end of Late Saxon bridle side-link, with adjacent boss, ?in form of animal head with mouth shown by transverse groove.
4) ?Early Saxon hooked escutcheon for vessel handle with two iron rivets, length 39mm, width 7cm.
5) Part of medieval purse bar with swivel loop. Stylised animal heads on either side of central boss.
