Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting in 1995 recovered fragments of Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery, Roman, medieval and post medieval coins, a Roman brooch, a Middle Saxon hooked tag, a Late Saxon copper alloy harness cheek piece, medieval seal matrices and a medieval sword pommel.

February/March 1995. General finds from area centred as above.
One body sherd pimply Ipswich and one body sherd pimply ?non-Ipswich Middle Saxon.
Eleven medieval unglazed, including a Grimston bowl.
Twelve Glazed Grimston, one Bourn D.
Six Glazed Red Earthenware including a West Norfolk bichrome rim.
One fragment medieval roofing tile.
One fragment, burnt after breaking, probable Roman imbrex.

One Roman, two medieval coins.
Middle Saxon hooked tag, border of punched dots, central oval field scored to take niello, white paste remains. Pierced attachment lugs broken off. To be photographed.
Early post medieval hooked fastener, with openwork human figure.

13th century lead pointed oval seal matrix, fleur-de-lis in centre. S' DOMME FIL' AGVS.
Fragment Late Saxon Ringerike bronze cheek-piece with 'tendril' mane of ?animal head.
Late medieval facetted sword pommel, bronze with lead infill. ?Reused as weight.
Lead medieval circular seal matrix, lug on reverse. S' SCElhL' SNELE.
Roman umbonate plate brooch, decorated with cells of pale blue glass. 2nd century AD.
