Full Description
Before April 1995.
Pottery sherd spread over field centred on grid reference.
Roman greyware: seven jar rims, one base, three body sherds. Three rims and one body sherd Samian, one body sherd East Anglian colour coated.
Tile fragment, possibly Roman.
One base, one body sherd Glazed Grimston.
Roman sherds, generally fresh.
A little post medieval pottery, not listed.

Late Bronze Age socketed axe blade fragment,(S1).
11th century box mount. See Polaroid (S2) and Illustration (S3). This find was reidentified as a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount by D. Williams in 1997, see Monograph (S4).
Burnt Roman pot sherd.

Circular bronze seal matrix with loop on reverse. 14th century. Polaroid (S2) NCM. PENSE DE RIEN FERE = think of doing nothing.

Medieval rim sherd.
Bronze medieval cast vessel rim sherds.
Bronze medieval strap end buckle with trefoil terminal, narrow bar with diagonal engraved lines and two rivet holes.
Very important Middle Saxon mount from book cover or vessel. 8th century. Circular glass inset in a bronze circular setting which has scalloped collar and damaged billeted flange. Domed glass inset is polychrome (blue with white decoration) symmetrical motif of two pairs if spirals and two trapezoidal fields.

Late Saxon bridle cheekpiece fragment with lobed central boss, transverse mouldings on each side. Terminals broken off; one has decorative lobe surviving, (S5).
