Summary

Metal detecting between 1995 and 1999 recovered a Roman coin and a decorated metal boss. Also found were part of a medieval padlock and a post medieval harness stud.

October/November 1996. Metal detecting. Context 1.
1) Early post medieval convex harness stud, circular with central boss and decoration of concentric grooves. 2 attached spikes on reverse. (S1) NCM.
2) End of barrel padlock, iron with copper alloy coating. 3 rectangular section pins passing through circular disc. Medieval. (S1) NCM.
3) Lion's head boss, stylised and also rather corroded so that few details visible. Characteristic stepped conical section and triangular nose. Repairs of shank in centre of hollow back. Roman. (S1) NCM.(S2).
