Full Description
Listed building description dates as 16th century with later extensions. Timber frame clad in brick. Two bays to south of offcentre stack are late 16th century with first floor originally open to queenpost roof, of which cambered arch braced ties and mortises remain. Winding stair by stack. Bay north of stack 17th century with butt purlin roof. Added south bay of 17th/18th century date. All openings late.
28 June 1995. Exterior of building seen by E. Rose (NLA).
There is now a long single storey addition to the north built about 1985 according to owner, but incorporating part of an earlier outshut. Owner also stated the southernmost bay had collapsed and been rebuilt with modern materials; exterior is all concealed by whitewash. Stack shows that original roof was thatched; present smut-pantile
roof is of two pitches. The listed building description may imply that this was a hall house, with inserted stack and rebuilt parlour in 17th century.
E. Rose (NLA) 29 June 1995.
