Summary

Metal detecting in 1994 to 1999 recovered a number of finds from the medieval and post medieval periods, including some 13th century box mounts. In addition, some undated weights and prehistoric pot boilers were also recovered.

1994. Metal detector finds.
Eight coins: four pennies, Sterling imitation, two halfpennies and Charles I penny.
Strap-end.
All found within 50 feet (15m) of each other.
Late medieval circular buckle with pin looped over central pin bar. Transverse groove on pin.
Medieval strap-end, openwork 'ogee-shaped' circular opening in top edge which is incurved. Triangular base. Two rivets at top.
Lead ?weight, 'pommel-shaped' with central hole. Stamped decoration (squares).
Pot boiler.
12th/13th century rim sherd.

1994. Metal detector find.
Medieval harness fragment, rectangular plate with broken socket on one side for attachment of rod. Shown in relief on both sides a lion rampant with double folded tail. Traces of gilding.

1995. Metal detector finds.
13th century casket mount, square bosses and one lobed pierced terminal, broken at other end, circular pierced section. At least one square boss has cross hatched decoration.

14th century crescentric belt chape, with cast and engraved front plate (elaborate pair of leaves on crescent and relief multi-lobed leaf terminal, sheet back plate.
Medieval bronze vessel fragment.
Post medieval lead disc weight (1.8 ounces or 52.8 gms). Stamped on both faces with two stars = two ounces.
17th century double-looped buckle with animal heads flanking baluster-moulded pin rests.

A. Rogerson identifying. All copper alloy unless stated.
Medieval fragment of circular section ring, diameter 40mm. Probably frame of annular brooch.
Post medieval very worn jetton, illegible, diameter 26mm.
Undated spherical lead weight with small central perforation, weighing 33.6g.
