Summary

Extensive metal detecting at this site from 1993 to 2000 recovered a selection of metal objects dating to a variety of archaeological periods. Amongst the finds retrieved were a possible Early Saxon object with a blue glass setting, a post medieval sword belt and a medieval oval brooch complete with pin.

13th century belt-stiffener, central boss with punched grooves and two lobes with rivets.

?Early Saxon blue glass in circular collet on a 'stalk' (broken).

17th century hooked belt-fitting with circular loop at one end ?sword belt.

1998. Metal detecting. Site extended.
At location [3]. Medieval oval buckle complete with pin and one-piece buckle plate which has notch for pin and which taper at attachment end, with single rivet hole.
At location [4]. Annular buckle/brooch. Flattish in section, complete with freely-moving pin (no pin constriction). Distinct file marks on both faces.

Before 16 February 2000. Metal detecting. Extended to south.
Late Saxon incomplete Ae bridle-side-link. Surviving loop has oval perforation and lozengiform exteior with three rounded knops. Short length of D-section bar then rounded boss (with smaller but corresponding concavity at rear). Broken across springing of another loop.
