Summary

Extensive metal detecting at this site from 1994 to 99 retrieved a quantity of multi period metal objects. The finds comprised an Early Saxon lozenge-shaped brooch, an oval Roman brooch, a medieval annular brooch, two Roman 'horse and rider' brooches and coins from the Roman and medieval periods.

1994. Metal detector find.
Early Saxon brooch, lozenge shaped, with incurved sides and a gilded sunken field within, and a chip-carved lozenge-shaped inner field. Stamped annulet and dot on each corner and in the inner lozenge in the corners. In centre an engraved swastika. H-shaped lug and catchplate on reverse.

Roman brooch. Oval, one zone gilded, dated to around 200-250.

At location [1]. Medieval annular brooch, small (external diameter 20mm). Hole for missing pin. Transverse lines of tiny addorsed triangular stamps, two lines between four areas of solder for missing ??
