Summary

Metal-detecting between 1995 and 2022 recovered Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; undated copper alloy casting waste; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and tokens and a range of other, Middle Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include the tip of a Middle Bronze Age spearhead; a Roman brooch, head from figurine, hair pin, lock, hanging bowl escutcheon and lead steelyard weight; a Roman/Early Saxon buckle; an Early Saxon brooch fragment, mount and silver pyramidal probable sword-scabbard mount; a Late Saxon finger or ear ring and stirrup-strap mount; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories (including a post-medieval silver cuff link and silver button); medieval harness fittings, a leash swivel, casket key, end cap from scale-tang knife, lock hasp from the lid of box or casket, lead spindle whorl and lead seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval book clasp, sheet pendant, purse frame fragment, rumbler bell, barrel padlock, candlestick, copper alloy rings, copper alloy vessel fragments and copper alloy furniture stud/tack and a post-medieval bell, book clasp, shield-shaped plaque, hooked attachment from spur leather, harness mount, end cap from scale-tang knife, hinge plate from box or casket, furniture key-hole escutcheon plate, part of pair of scissors, spoon handle, lead weight and lead cloth seal.

13th century casket or harness mount, pierced lobed terminals.
Medieval buckle with semi-circular plate with scalloped edge, and very finely stamped tendrils ornament in centre. Two domed rivets flank this decoration. Central pierced hole for rivet. D-shaped buckle has pin-rest in form of animal head.
Post-medieval shield-shaped plaque from chest or carriage etc.
