Summary

Metal-detecting between 1994 and 2014 recovered late prehistoric worked flint, including a scraper; Early Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval to post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval to post-medieval roof tile fragments; medieval Rhineland lava quern stone fragments; Roman and post-medieval coins and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Saxon brooch; a medieval pot mend, strap fitting, buckle and weight; a medieval/post-medieval purse frame, copper alloy vessel fragment and lead weights and a post-medieval buckle and furniture fitting.

Polaroid of a Late Saxon lozengiform openwork Borre-style brooch, endorsed with name of the parish, the above date, an 8-figure grid reference falling within this site, & “v. worn, catchplate broken, Fe in lug” and finder’s name.

Medieval gilded belt fitting ('hook' formerly with loop terminal to slide over belt). Terminal in form of dog like animal head and body.

Medieval suspension loop for a purse frame with shank passing through central part of frame bar. Both arms of bar broken off. Late medieval or early post medieval.
