Full Description
1 June 1973. Ordnance Survey air photography.
Positive cropmarks.
Multiple linear feature.
Derek Edwards (NLA) has some oblique photos of this taken in 1990. Looks like an interesting site.
D. Voisey (NLA) 11 August 1995.
20 June 1990. NAU air photography.
Cropmark of square enclosure.
D. Edwards (NAU).
Mark is partly obscured and there are other marks that may be associated, or later, but one photograph does suggest that the rectangle is double ditched. It is at the centre of the park boundary NHER 7309 and in some senses would be a better candidate for a central moat than NHER 13038, formerly so annotated.
But it is right on spot height 59 and looks uncannily like a Roman signal station.
E. Rose (NAU) 5 September 1995.
13 July 1993. NLA air photography.
Cropmark of square enclosure well defined, partial traces of other linear and curvilinear features can be detected, but are less visible in the crop.
S. Massey (NLA), 9 February 2001.
