Full Description
With adjacent house, once three cottages. Late 16th century or earlier. Timber frame part replaced or rebuilt in brick. Original three cell screens passage layout, services to the right, hall to the left now with axial stack; parlour beyond is Tyle Cottage, rest is adjacent house. In 18th century two extra rooms with central stack added at east - now part of Tyle Cottage. Later extensions. Mullioned and transomed three light window at rear. Interior: hall has chamfered crossbeam with hollow stepped stops; broad unchamfered joists - fireplace blocked. Floor over services removed for former use as school room. Arched braced tiebeam on wallposts exposed in chamber above but roof inaccessible. Exposed timber framing in parlour. 18th century section has chamfered crossbeams, large brick fireplace with plain bressumer.
