Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 1995-2002 recovered a vast array of multi-period metal objects and coins. Particularly interesting finds included an Iron Age coin, Roman seal box, Early Saxon buckle, a Roman military dress or harness fitting and lead steelyard weight, an Early or Middle Saxon bead and a medieval lead ampulla. In addition, aerial photographs taken in 1996 showed the cropmarks of a rectilinear enclosure here.
