Summary

In 1995 the base/foundation of a masonry wall was discovered here. The wall was built from flints in mortar and incorporated a non-modern brick. Various sherds of medieval pottery were also found and these may contemporary with the wall. In 2008 a test pit excavated by the Higher Education Academies recovered large amounts of post-medieval pottery including a number of German specimens.

October 1995. In garden of Wiveton Barn (The Lodge), discovered during digging of flower bed.
Base/foundation of masonry wall (flints in mortar, also incorporating one brick (not modern) aligned northwest to southeast. Around 1.2m (4ft) wide, and either a 0.6m (2ft) wide wall on a 1.2m (4ft) wide foundation, or two 1.2m (2ft) wide walls side by side. Note that this is on the same alignment (approximately) as a standing wall of considerable height to the north of the house.
