Summary

Metal detecting in this area from 1995-97 recovered a wide range of multi period metal objects. Noteworthy finds included a medieval circular seal matrix, a late medieval casket key, several medieval annular brooch frames and a post medieval coin and buckle.

Early post medieval double-looped buckle.

1996. Metal detector finds.
At location [1]. 14th century circular seal-matrix. Hexagonal stem ending in trefoil terminal with three holes. Shield with crowned MP monogram * SV : PETRI : BARESTERE : (S5).
At location [2]. Late medieval casket key. Circular bow. Hollow stem, simple ward.
At location [3]. Medieval silver mount, sheet, rectangular with concave sides. Four engraved fleur-de-lis within billeted border. On reverse two discrete areas of staining ?solder surrounded by rust.
Otherwise no visible means of attachment.

1997. Metal detector finds.
At location [4]. Small annular brooch frame. Four circular collets, three of which contain ?white paste, separated by angular and rounded `beads'. Recessed pin seat. Flat at back. Probably 13th/14th century.
At location [5]. Annular brooch, sub-circular section. Plain robust pin, square collar with chevron line below swivel loop. Latter nipped together at end. Probably 13th/14th century.

At location [6]. Post medieval coin. See list in file.
At location [7]. Small annular brooch frame. Four circular collets, three of which contain ?white paste, separated by angular and rounded 'beads'. Recessed pin seat. Flat at back. Probably 13th/14th century.
At location [8]. Annular brooch, sub-circular section. Plain robust oub. Square collar with chevron line below swivel loop. Later nipped together at end. Probably 13th/14th century.
