November 1997. Metal detecting at the Park and ride area. [1] [2]
Medieval handle from a bronze cooking pot, like our modern saucepan handles. The terminal thickens and is bent down, and has the suggestion of an animal head. On the flat top there is a design of relief lozenges with a reddish patina around - could it once have been enamelled? Broken, only 65mm of length surviving. See (S2).
Comp. A. Rogerson, 8 July 1999.
