Summary

A watching brief carried out by Howard Brooks Archaeological Services in 1996 revealed 18th century pottery, part of a human skull of unknown date and the foundations of a 19th century greenhouse.

Monitoring of groundworks.
Pottery from 18th century onwards.
Fragment of human skull subject to postmortem examination.
Foundations and drains of 19th century greenhouses.
Made ground deposits were observed to a depth of 1.5m below the modern ground surface, with engineering test boreholes suggesting that there was up to 4m of made ground on the site.
