Summary

Fieldwalking here in 1996 recovered various archaeological objects including prehistoric flints and medieval and post medieval pottery sherds. Part of a small pit with a sooty filling and fragments of animal bone was recorded although the date and purpose of this feature are uncertain.

May 1996. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on site of proposed reservoir.
Fifteen or so flint flakes. One small scraper. No pottery or notable metal finds.

Strip along north edge and west edge of area very roughly stripped of soil by graders; sandy gravelly natural.
A few prehistoric worked flints (flakes) not retained.
At TL 9759 9221.
One body sherd very abraded, probably Late medieval/Transitional period. Held by NCM.
At TL 9772 9216.
Base (very disturbed) of small feature. Almost black sooty filling. Two tiny calcined bone fragments, not retained.
