Summary

This timber framed farmhouse has extremely high ceilings and huge beams. It has a three room layout. The brickwork and stone doorways date to around 1600. It has been suggested that this house may be one wing of a vanished mansion that was converted into a house around 1700.

Present three-cell house has rooms of great height with huge beams. Original kitchen in place of parlour, and grand room where services might be expected. Brickwork of around 1600. Reset arched doorway, and wave moulded doorway, both of around 1600. Later stair turret. Possibly one wing of a vanished mansion of that date converted to a house in its own right around 1700. One block of limestone in 19th century garden wall.
