Full Description
27 June 1996. Casual Find.
A flint axe was found on the line of the public right of way across a turnip field.
It is a small Neolithic flaked axe, 103 by 45 by 24mm, with no trace of polish. It is made from mottled grey flint, with a greyish patina and sparse spots of iron staining. The axe is of a symmetrical form with a pointed butt, without recent damage, but the cutting edge has been slightly damaged in antiquity.
Information from member of the public [1].
First reported to E. Rose (NLA), 11 July 1996.
A. Rogerson (NLA), August 2000.
