Listed as former coaching inn, early 18th century, façade rebuilt 1878.
Flint and brick with painted gault brick façade, two storeys and dormers. Carriage arch to right. Windows a mixture of 18th and 20th century. Original outshut to rear. Interior has some chamfered bridging beams, and plank door to attic. 18th century roof of commons alone with lower order of through purlins and upper tier of unstated purlins. Three gault stacks and two more on outshut. Bay north of carriage arch now a separate property, No.29; seen by E. Rose (NLA) 18 July 1996. Interior featureless except for part-exposed spine beam on first floor; spiral staircase in thickness of wall to arch (plan in file, S2). Wall to archway of flint with fossil quoins of reused stone to rear from height of 2m upwards; wall extended in flint a foot or so to join brick quoins of stables. Reused in ceiling of arch are some very interesting timbers with mortises. Attached to west of No.29, building listed separately as stables; south facade of clunch, brick openings with horizontal skintlings, and plaque dated 1780 (interesting in view of brickwork). West wall rebuilt with reused bricks. Many fragments of reused stonework in north wall.
