Summary

Metal detecting has recovered many medieval and post medieval finds including a medieval key, several medieval strap ends, medieval pottery, medieval roof tile, a post-medieval token with a figure with its arms raised and two post-medieval gilded belt mounts.

September 1996. Metal detecting.
Large copper alloy medieval key, rather worn and broken. Bow missing. Short solid section of stem with moulded decoration, then hollow part of stem with asymmetrical bit.
Identified by H. Geake (NCM).

Uniface lead token/counter. Figure with raised arms, in relief. ?post medieval, 17th century?

February/March 1997. Metal detecting.
Gilded medieval horse harness attachment bar, two rivets, D section, with tiny lobe at each end. Traces of iron suspension pin in double loop.
Gilded D section bar fragment ending in double lobe with integral attachment spike on reverse. Upper surface decorated with elaborate cast ?foliate ornament on either side of a central cordon. Early post medieval, ?belt mount?

Gilded copper alloy 16th/17th century belt mount. Crude trefoils at either end of an oval plate with central cast floral motif. On reverse at each end a long tapering integral shank bent over at about 11mm.
Lateish medieval glazed: five body sherds, one oval section handle; two body sherds Glazed Grimston, medieval unglazed; one stabbed strap handle, three bowl rims with white inclusions and one body sherd with white inclusions.
One body sherd Bourne D ware.
One scrap medieval roofing tile.
