Full Description
Willowbeck House.
Hall-house, probably 15th century, with fragment of crownpost roof. Stack seems, most unusually, to have been inserted in the low end of the hall, probably at first as a clay firehood. This and the upper storeys are of late 17th century date. Stack rebuilt in brick in mid 18th century. Subdivision in 19th century and restoration in 1980s.
See report (S1) and (S2) in secondary file for further details. The observations made in 1996 are also summarised in (S3).
E. Rose (NLA), 23 December 1996.
