Summary

A square enclosure with a ring ditch inside is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. It is likely that this is the remains of an infilled pit, although it has previously been suggested that they are the remains of a Roman barrow and a Bronze Age barrow respectively.

D. Edwards (NLA).

May 2005. Field Observation.
There is an obvious hollow at this approximate location, suggesting that the cropmark might be an old pit.
D. Gurney (NLA), 2 May 2005.

November 2007. Norfolk NMP.
This site was not mapped as part of the NMP as it was felt to be the remains of a pit as suggested above.
S. Massey (NMP), 09 November 2007.

October 2025. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
The earthworks of a pit (see above), possibly relating to a former post medieval extraction pit or a natural feature, are visible on visualised lidar data (S2) from a survey flown in 2021. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the feature still survives a low earthwork.
