Summary

The site of a World War Two spigot mortar emplacement dating to around 1940 is visible on aerial photographs to the south of the River Wensum at North Elmham. A second spigot mortar emplacement was positioned to approximately 50m to the northwest (NHER 32448), both defences would have defended the road and river crossings at Billingford/North Elmham parish border. This structure was removed in about 1990.

A second spigot mortar emplacement was positioned to approximately 50m to the northwest (NHER 32448), both defences would have defended the road and river crossings at Billingford/North Elmham parish border.
