Summary

This common 1940 spigot mortar gun emplacement is set in a bank just inside the park boundary. It is the only spigot mortar base in Norwich and as such must be protected. It was still surviving when visited in 2006.

The spigot mortar emplacement described above is visible on aerial photographs (S2-S4) during World War two and later. It is centred on TG 1905 0824. The central concrete spindle measures 1.4m in diameter, and is set within a trench measuring up to 3.8m in width.
