Summary

A World War Two type 22 pillbox is located on Church Lane, Lessingham. A similarly positioned pillbox was located on Beach Road, 600m to the east (NHER 43390), although this has since been demolished. These pillboxes would have defended the inland approach from the coast in the event of an invasion.

A World War Two type 22 pillbox is visible on aerial photographs on Beach Road, Lessingham (S2-S3). A similarly positioned pillbox was located on Church Lane, 600m to the west (NHER 32639), although this has since been demolished.. These pillboxes would have defended the inland approach from the coast in the event of an invasion.
