Summary

A World War Two type 22 pillbox is located in the dunes to the northwest of North Gap, Eccles-on-Sea. This structure is now split by subsidence. The pillbox is located to the west of another possible gun emplacement and site of guns during 1940, see NHER 27336 for details, and a group of anti-tank cubes and possible military huts are positioned to the east (NHER 27324).

The World War Two type 22 pillbox, located in the dunes to the northwest of North Gap, Eccles-on-Sea, is visible on aerial photographs (S2). The site is centred on TG 4122 2892. The pillbox is located to the west of another possible gun emplacement and site of guns during 1940, see NHER 27336 for details, and a group of anti-tank cubes and possible military huts are positioned to the east (NHER 27324).

Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 20), Context 586:
A Second World War period type 22 pillbox at TG 41227 28927 was monitored. It was located just behind the modern sea wall and was mostly concealed by sand dunes.
