Map

January 1997. Watching Brief. No contexts used.
No finds or features were recorded during monitoring of groundworks for water service improvements. This is likely due to previous disturbance from the routing of other services below the roadway. The excavator has suggested that, given the low lying position of the land and the proximity to the river, this area may have been artificially raised at some point. It is possibley that archaeological features may be present on the slightly higher ground to the north and in areas adjacent to the service trenches.
See report (S1) for further details.
