Summary

Metal detecting on this field recovered a medieval copper alloy seal with a lion rampant and a post medieval copper alloy box padlock case with linear and saltire decoration and double circles on all faces.

April/May 1997. Metal detecting. Field with few finds.
Copper alloy seal matrix, sub-circular head, conical central handle broken off at base on reverse. Motif of rampant lion. 14th/15th century. See (S1) and (S2).
Copper alloy box padlock case with linear and saltire decoration and double circles on all faces. Heavily iron stained at top and around key hole. Part of strengthening band at back broken. 25 x 19 x 6.5 mm. 16th/17th century.
