16 July 1997. Field Observation.
Listing Description (S1) states that this is a cottage of about 1600 extended to the north in the 19th century. Older part has knapped and squared flint, north part flint rubble and brick. All windows are Holkham Estate iron casements. South gable wall 19th century though on older section. It has an internal stack and there is another stack on party wall. One first floor 17th century long low window part blocked, blocked fire window by stack; brick rustication.
Building seen only in distance, but south gable wall certainly 19th century, and the fire window on the first floor level with central stack has very fine brick surround, perhaps the 'rustication' mentioned.
The building overlaps nos 17 to 18 before they were reduced, and appears to have a similar history.
See NHER 32829.
