Full Description
1996. Metal detecting finds.
Roman rear hook brooch, 40-60/65 AD.
Identified by D. Mackreth, 1996.
10th century Byzantian coin made into a brooch.
Identified by British Museum. C&M in file.
13th/14th century gilded annular brooch with solid-looped pin. Pin construction and worn decoration, perhaps originally an inscription.
Early post medieval, one disc from a well preserved cloth seal. Off-centre stamp of a crowned portcullis with unreadable legend around.

Many 19th-20th century and late post medieval metal finds ident by H. M. Geake (NCM).
(1) Composite medieval strap end made of four sheets of Ae held together by a rivet at the (now incomplete) shaped terminal and another rivet in the centre. Outer plates are incomplete but the full width spacers survive complete. One late has two saltires in squares engraved near the terminal. 14th century.
(2) Decorative lead 17th century knob from furniture, harness or similar. In shape of an oval flower with eight petals, projecting central boss. Large integral rivet on reverse. Black lacquer cloating.

Medieval cast bronze one-piece chape. Folded, with one arm missing. Key-hole shaped decorative notch at centre of plate. Random punched linear decoration on both faces. Surviving arm has pierced top. Identified by V. Fryer (NCM).
